Iran Riots.
I’ve been silent on Iran’s situation for a few days. The main reason being that behind all the handwringing in the US media, I sense a more sinister backdrop. We need to be honest, that in the Grand Chessboard of the Middle East theatre, there are large factions within our own military and intelligence community that would love nothing more than an excuse to “liberate the peoples of Iran” in the way that we **had to** liberate the people of Kuwait from the clutches of Saddam Hussein. This doesn’t excuse Hussein’s treatment of his neighbors or his own country people, but that’s not the issue at hand. What is important to remember is that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a puppet, and the real power lies with not him or a reformer, but the entreched religious leaders behind the sceane.
Do the people have the power here? Really?? The people of Iran can only manage to overthrow the government with a very strong military helper. Who else better than Uncle Sam (and/or his buddies) to step in to ‘restore order’ and….open up markets.
My heart goes out to those suffering through this ordeal, those who have lost loved ones and the innocents. My statement on these riots is meant not to hurt or inflame, but only to offer what I believe is a realistic opinion on these last few days of chaos.
